Originally founded as "salasa" in 1719 and the town was renamed to bugallon in 1921 by jose Torres bugallon and Bugallon is a historic 2nd-class municipality in Pangasinan, Philippines, best known as the birthplace of the Philippine-American War hero Major Jose Torres Bugallon. Originally founded as "Salasa" in 1719, the town was officially renamed to Bugallon in 1921 to honor the fallen general.Key Historical MilestonesFounded as Salasa (1719): Established on January 24, 1719, the town was originally named Salasa, derived from the local term for the floor joists of wooden houses.The Boy General (1899): Local son Major Jose Torres Bugallon fought valiantly under General Antonio Luna.
